When you first think about doing your nursery, it’s a nice, warm feeling. You’re excited about the new addition to the family and are overflowing with ideas for the baby room where they’d spend their early years.

But as you start, things start getting less dreamy and just downright exhausting. Designing a nursery is no easy task for new parents and can feel overwhelming for first-time parents.

Here are a few decor tips to make your life slightly easier.

Stick to One or Two Colors for The Overall Color Palette

You probably love all pastels and can’t decide on one for the baby room, but we do advise that you pick one pastel color and pair it with white. This could be any color from blue to pink, green or, even a pale yellow.

Paint the walls with your chosen color, or create a one accent wall and keep the others white. Incorporate different shades of the same color in other areas of the room. For example, if you’ve chosen a baby blue, paint the walls baby blue, and choose a darker blue for a rug, and perhaps a midnight blue cot and changing station. Keep the curtains and other linens white to balance out the palette.

Include Important Furniture Pieces but Don’t Go Overboard

Nurseries are typically not very large spaces, so you need to use the space wisely. Obviously, you’d need to fit in a baby’s crib. This would serve as the central feature in the room, so you should pick this first and then utilize the remaining space.

You’d also need a changing station. Ideally, you should pick one with enough storage space for all of the baby’s things. Make sure it’s closed storage–that makes it easier to keep the room looking tidy. You can also install shelves above the changing station where you can keep presentable baskets with additional supplies.

And, if you can squeeze it in, then you need a nursing chair with a footstool yourself. It’ll tie the nursery well together too.

Add A Pop of Color with Some Artwork for The Baby Room

If you’ve stuck to a moderate color palette with one or two colors, you can consider adding a pop of color with some creative art pieces for the baby room.

They’d help to light up the entire space and could help to distract the baby when they’re being fussy. You can put up the artwork above the crib or the changing station, wherever it works for you. It’s also a good idea to hang up artwork on the wall across from the window so that it gets highlighted every time the light falls on it during the day.
